News Regarding the Formula E Team Racing Activities for the 2021 World Championship Season

Formula E, formally the Abb Voce Formula E Racing Championship, is an international electric-powered motor sport championship, also known as the Formula E Championship. The series was launched in 2021 at the Autodrome d’Honour in Bologna, with a budget of about twenty million Euros. Since then, several events have been held across the globe, with an attendance record of more than ten million people. There have been no Formula E races in the UK so far. However, there is talk of a possible switch in the future, with Nissan Motorsports taking over running of the British Formula E Championship from Nissan. In fact, Nissan has said that it has received “verbal information” that a decision on a possible move to the UK may soon be confirmed.

The teams participating in the Formula E season are: ePrix Dubai Doon, BMS GP Wirthland, ickenissan Singapore GP2, GP3 Series 2 Toyota Motorsport Corporation, Quick Step Racing, GP2 Series 1 Audi Sport Abt HEC, CTM Competiirelli TSE. A further change is the formation of the ePC Master Series, which is owned by the Dubai Autodrome Management Company (DAAC). The series’ first race was held in Austria last year. This was followed by another event in Malaysia in January, with more taking place in various countries over the coming months. The major participating teams are: BMS GP Wirthland, ePrix Dubai Doon, Nissan Motorsports, Audi Sport Abt HEC, CTM Competiirelli TSE and Nissan Motorsports.

A potential move to the United Kingdom could see Nissan Motorsports takes over running of the British Formula E Championship from BMS, which has held the series since its inception in 2021. However, a source close to the team has told Faster Motorsports that Nissan has yet to decide whether it would run the BMS brand in the United Kingdom or if it would take over the vacant spot on the calendar from BMS. Should a move to the UK occur, it is expected that both companies would leave the vacant spot empty, as there would not be another major motor sport event on the calendar until at least the spring of 2021. However, should an announcement be made that a Formulate race will take place in the UK in the near future, the vacant seats would become available to either BMS or Nissan.
