Could Formula E Make Its Way to the Automobile Market From Our Living Rooms?

Formula E, formally the ABB Formula E Championship, is an electrical motor sport championship for electric racing cars. The first series was launched in 2021 at the Automobile Club de France (ACF) in France. Since its inception, more than ten series races have been organized with over sixty cars in attendance. The popularity of the Formulae championship has grown rapidly since its inception and now, there are plans for even more races in the future.

In contrast to other motor sports which feature two separate types of cars, Formulae features an all-electric racing series between six different manufacturers. The manufacturers participating in the Formula E include Dallara, Panasonic, Jaguar, Renault, Mahindra, Quick Motorsports, BMW and Sony. The reason why Formula E is considered as an all-electric racing series is due to the fact that electric powered cars do not need fuel to operate. This makes it easier for drivers to compete due to the absence of internal combustion engines. The absence of fuel also allows the competitors to save on mileage and emissions. With these benefits in mind, it would be safe to say that the future of Formula E may well involve electric powered cars.

So what does this mean for us as fans of Formula E? For us, it means that as long as there are race tracks, we will see Formula E cars on the streets of Dubai and Beijing. If you want to take a break from the daily grind and just enjoy some high speed action, then go to your nearest race track, grab yourself an electric car and enjoy the experience. I am sure you won’t be able to help yourself but notice the difference in performance between a Formula 1 car on gas and one on electricity.
