The Many Different Types of Motorsport
Motorsport, motor sports or motor racing is an international term generally used to cover the category of competitive sporting events that are conducted primarily using motor vehicles, whether on road or off-road competitions. In the United States, the most popular motor sports are auto racing, open-air racing (especially drag racing) and stock car racing. Motorsport has grown into a multi-million dollar industry with annual revenue reaching billions of dollars. With the growing popularity of motorsport events, several organizations have cropped up to aid in the growth of this fast growing sport. These organizations compete against one another to help develop new technologies and techniques.
One of the world’s most prominent motorsport activities is Formula One racing, also known as open-wheel racing. Formula One is the most famous and largest motorsport event worldwide, with more than 24 teams competing. In recent years Formula One has been made available to television viewers around the world, giving them a close up look at what it takes to race in the high-stakes world of Formula One racing.
Other popular motorsports include off-road racing, which is also known as off-road driving. Off-road racing is popular not only with the people who love to drive fast cars and build outrageous muscle cars, but it has grown into a significant source of income for millions of people worldwide. Off-road motor racing events can be seen all over the world, from Australia to Mongolia. Off-road racing has evolved into a very profitable business over the past few decades, with companies like HPI helping to sponsor and support off-road driving competition around the world.
